Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically stored in the weapon’s mag. These magazines typically attach to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Details About How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s magazine well.
High-Cap LMG Magazine Information
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use high-cap drum magazines. They can carry up to thousands of BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Details
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun design and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized style depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the mags frequently come with builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and allow the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines Details
Airsoft handgun mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. A lot of airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
