Information About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally held in the gun’s magazine. These magazines usually connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These styles usually relate to AEG magazines for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the volume of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold in ammunition, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft gamers the greatest storage space with around 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One point to keep in mind about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas often restrain their usage because of players shooting an excessive amount of ammo to spray and pray throughout games.
About How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally packed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. CO2, HPA, and GBB guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
High Capacity LMG Mag Details
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Details
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and functional between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG magazines also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the magazines often include builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft pistol mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
