Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These magazines generally attach to the airsoft gun similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Info on Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are typically loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. CO2, HPA, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are related to the kind of AEG rifle plus most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how airsoft guns function. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well. For instance M4 design AEG magazines would usually work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10 inch barrel made by G and G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The very same would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability in between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can store in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags Info
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun design and functional in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are built similarly. These SMG magazines also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines often come with builtin gas reservoirs or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Info
When compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible. Pistols mags differ by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the mag. The magazine is placed into the handgun’s grip like the standard gun design. Pistol magazines are typically interchangeable between similar designs of the exact same airsoft gun manufacturer, however are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically created for that function. Learning about the various styles of airsoft sidearms gives you a better understanding of how their magazines function. Many airsoft pistol mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
