Airsoft Weapon Mags
These magazines generally connect to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Information
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real weapon would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Information on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. CO2, HPA, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently stash the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
About High-Cap LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons use high capacity box or drum magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and usable in between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags often come with builtin gas tanks or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Mags Info
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. A lot of airsoft handgun magazines house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
