Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These mags generally attach to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are normally loaded into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. CO2, HPA, and GBB guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Information Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle plus most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Learn more about how airsoft guns function. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s magazine well. For example M4 style AEG mags would normally operate in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10 inch barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch barrel. The same cross-compatibility would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can store between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are usually separated by gun design and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are developed in a similar way. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own customized style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the mags often include builtin gas storage areas or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Mags Information
Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the magazine. The mag is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the basic gun design. Pistol mags are often interchangeable between comparable models of the exact same airsoft weapon producer, however are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are particularly developed for that purpose. Learning about the different types of airsoft handguns gives you more insight to how their magazines function. A lot of airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
