Details About Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are normally housed in the weapon’s mag. These magazines generally attach to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are created after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines are available in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These styles most often involve AEG mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the volume of airsoft BBs a real gun would keep in live ammo, which is typically around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, offer airsoft players the most storage space with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One point to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields often limit their usage due to players shooting an excessive amount of ammunition to spray-and-pray throughout gameplay.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are typically filled into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are directly related to the kind of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. See how airsoft weapons function. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine insertion area. M4 design AEG magazines would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can store in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable between different submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom-made style depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines typically include builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and allow the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Information
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Handguns mags differ by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the mag. The magazine is placed into the handgun’s grip like the basic firearm style. Handgun magazines are typically interchangeable between comparable designs of the exact same airsoft weapon maker, but are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically designed for that function. Understanding the various types of airsoft handguns gives you a better understanding of how their magazines work. Most airsoft pistol mags keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
