Info About Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically stored in the gun’s magazine. These mags generally connect to the airsoft gun similar to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.
About High Capacity LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use high capacity drum magazines. They can store up to 1000s of BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and usable between various submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the magazines typically include builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and help the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Info
Airsoft handgun mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. A lot of airsoft pistol mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
