Info About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally held in the gun’s mag. These magazines usually attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are created after. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Information
Airsoft gun magazines are available in several styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These kinds usually relate to AEG magazines for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would store in bullets, which is generally about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, give airsoft players the most storage space with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One thing to note about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields typically restrict their use during games because of players firing a lot of ammunition to spray and pray throughout gameplay.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, HPA, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Information Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are relegated to the type of AEG rifle plus all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. See how the inner workings of airsoft weapons shoot BBs. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s magazine insertion area. M4 design AEG magazines would usually work in all M4 style rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The exact same would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability in between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can hold between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and functional between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are developed similarly with cross-compatibility. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to operate so the magazines often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
About Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft pistol mags are often less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. A lot of airsoft pistol mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
