Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are normally kept in the gun’s mag. These magazines usually connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The kinds of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Info
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are usually loaded into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s mag well.
High-Cap LMG Magazine Details
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use high-cap drum magazines. They can carry up to thousands of BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Details
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and functional in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the mags frequently include builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Details About Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags differ by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the magazine. The mag is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard gun style. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable between similar models of the same airsoft weapon manufacturer, but are typically not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly created for that purpose. Understanding the various types of airsoft handguns gives you more insight to how their pistol mags work. Many airsoft pistol magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
