Info About Airsoft Gun Magazines
These magazines typically connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Info
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are typically pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
About High Capacity LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
About Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG magazines also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the magazines often feature builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. A lot of airsoft handgun magazines can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
