Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually kept in the gun’s magazine. These magazines normally attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun mags come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Information on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun model and functional in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the mags frequently feature builtin gas reservoirs or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Information
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol magazines can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
