Details About Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically housed in the gun’s magazine. These magazines usually connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
About Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are relegated to the kind of AEG rifle and most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Learn more about how airsoft guns work. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s magazine well. M4 style AEG mags would typically work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10 inch barrel made by G and G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same idea would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can store between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Info on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and usable in between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines typically feature builtin gas storage areas or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
About Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags differ by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the mag. The mag is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the standard gun design. Handgun magazines are often interchangeable between similar designs of the exact same airsoft gun maker, but are often not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly designed for that purpose. Learning about the various styles and types of airsoft pistols can give you more insight to how their mags function. Most airsoft pistol mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
