Airsoft Weapon Magazines Info
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally housed in the weapon’s mag. These magazines typically connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Information
Airsoft gun mags come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often hold the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Details
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The mags are related to the type of AEG rifle plus most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Learn more about how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well. M4 style AEG mags would normally work in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch barrel. The same would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can hold in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by gun model and usable between different submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the mags often come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines Details
When compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft handgun magazines are often less flexible. Pistols mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) housed in the magazine. The mag is placed into the pistol’s grip like the basic gun style. Pistol magazines are typically interchangeable between comparable models of the same airsoft weapon maker, but are typically not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly created for that function. Understanding the different types of airsoft pistols can give you more insight to how their mags work. The majority of airsoft handgun mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
