Airsoft Weapon Mags Information
These mags usually attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Information on How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally packed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s mag well.
High-Cap LMG Mag Info
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Mags Information
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun design and usable in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the magazines often include builtin gas storage areas or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and allow the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Info on Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. The majority of airsoft handgun magazines can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
