Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically kept in the weapon’s mag. These mags usually attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often stash the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Information
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are specific to the kind of AEG rifle plus most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. See how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s magazine well. For example M4 style AEG mags would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same cross-compatibility would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can store between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Information on Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and functional in between various submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the magazines often feature builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
