Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally stored in the weapon’s mag. These mags generally attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would hold, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are normally packed into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring creating tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are directly related to the kind of AEG rifle and all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Learn more about how airsoft weapons function. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag insertion area. M4 style AEG mags would typically work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same cross-compatibility would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can hold in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
About Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by gun model and usable in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are constructed similarly. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Handguns mags vary by type and often use CO2 or green gas (propane) housed in the magazine. The magazine is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the basic gun design. Handgun mags are frequently interchangeable between similar models of the exact same airsoft gun manufacturer, but are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically developed for that purpose. Learning about the various types of airsoft sidearms gives you a better understanding of how their magazines work. Many airsoft pistol magazines keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
