About Airsoft Gun Mags
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are generally stored in the gun’s mag. These magazines usually attach to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Info
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically house the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle plus all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s mag insertion area. For instance M4 style AEG mags would generally work in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by G and G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can hold between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Info on Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by gun model and usable in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to function so the mags often come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Info on Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
