Airsoft Weapon Mags
These mags generally attach to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft gun mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are normally packed into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons use high-cap box magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by weapon design and usable in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft handgun magazines can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
