About Airsoft Weapon Mags
These mags typically attach to the airsoft weapon comparable to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use high-cap drum magazines. They can carry up to thousands of BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Info
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom-made design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines often include builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines Info
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft pistol mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
