About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These mags generally attach to the airsoft gun quite similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines can be found in a couple of styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types usually apply to AEG magazines for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the supply of airsoft BBs a real weapon would keep, which is normally around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, offer airsoft gamers the greatest storage space with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. Something to consider about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields typically restrain their use during games due to players firing an excessive amount of ammunition to spray and pray during games.
About How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are generally packed into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle plus most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. Understand how airsoft weapons function. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s magazine well. For example M4 style AEG magazines would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same cross-compatibility would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by gun model and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are developed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft pistol mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
