About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually stored in the gun’s mag. These magazines normally connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Details
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spaces. The BBs are generally packed into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
About High-Cap LMG Magazines
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high capacity box magazines. They can hold up to thousands of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Info
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and functional in between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to function so the mags often come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the magazine. The magazine is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the standard gun design. Pistol magazines are often interchangeable in between comparable models of the exact same airsoft gun manufacturer, but are typically not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically created for that purpose. Understanding the specific types of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their magazines work. Many airsoft handgun mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
