Airsoft Weapon Magazines Information
These mags usually connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Information
Airsoft gun magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would house, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Information Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high capacity box magazines. They can carry up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are usually separated by weapon design and functional between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to work in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own customized design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the magazines often include builtin gas tanks or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Info on Airsoft Handgun Magazines
When compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft pistol magazines are often less versatile. Pistols mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the mag. The mag is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the standard firearm style. Pistol magazines are typically interchangeable between comparable models of the exact same airsoft weapon maker, but are typically not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly created for that function. Learning about the different styles and types of airsoft sidearms can give you more insight to how their mags work. Many airsoft handgun magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
