Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These mags normally connect to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real weapon would store, which is normally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are related to the type of AEG rifle and most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Understand how the inner workings of airsoft guns shoot BBs. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s mag well. M4 style AEG magazines would generally work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ gun with a 10″ barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same cross-compatibility would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can hold between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by weapon design and usable in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are built in a similar way. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines often include builtin gas storage areas or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. A lot of airsoft pistol magazines hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
