Airsoft Gun Mags Information
These mags usually connect to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags are made in multiple styles like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types frequently apply to AEG magazines for automatic electric guns. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would store, which is usually about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, provide airsoft gamers the most storage with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. Something to keep in mind about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields frequently limit their use due to players using an excessive amount of ammunition to spray-and-pray throughout gameplay.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well.
High Capacity LMG Magazine Details
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use high-cap box magazines. They can carry up to thousands of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during engagements.
About Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and functional between various submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the magazine. The magazine is placed into the handgun’s grip like the standard gun design. Handgun magazines are often interchangeable in between similar models of the same airsoft weapon manufacturer, but are frequently not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically designed for that function. Understanding the different types of airsoft sidearms gives you a better understanding of how their magazines differ. Many airsoft pistol magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
