Airsoft Gun Mags Details
These magazines generally connect to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Information on Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines can be found in a couple of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types most often involve AEG mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would store, which is typically around 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft gamers the most storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One thing to consider about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas frequently regulate their usage due to players firing a lot of ammo to spray and pray during games.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are typically pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
About High Capacity LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons use high-cap drum magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and usable between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines often feature builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and enable the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
About Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
