Details About Airsoft Weapon Mags
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually kept in the weapon’s magazine. These mags typically connect to the airsoft gun similar to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The kinds of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Type Information
Airsoft gun mags come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically house the gas or feed air in through the mag.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The magazines are relegated to the kind of AEG rifle and most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. Learn more about how the inner workings of airsoft weapons shoot BBs. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s magazine insertion area. M4 style AEG mags would usually work in all M4 design rifles from a brief CBQ weapon with a 10″ barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ barrel. The same would relate to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can keep in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun design and functional between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines typically include builtin gas tanks or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
About Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Pistols mags differ by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the mag. The magazine is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard gun style. Handgun mags are often interchangeable between similar models of the same airsoft gun maker, however are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically designed for that purpose. Understanding the different types of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their pistol mags work. Most airsoft pistol magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
