Information About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually kept in the weapon’s magazine. These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are created after. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Type Info
Airsoft weapon mags come in various types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types usually involve AEG mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the total of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would hold in ammunition, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft gamers the most storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to keep in mind about high-cap mags is that airsoft arenas often restrict their use during games because of players firing an excessive amount of ammunition to spray-and-pray during games.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are usually packed into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring creating tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. CO2, HPA, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
About Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun model and functional in between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons accumulate gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol mags are frequently less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft pistol magazines hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
