Airsoft Gun Magazines Information
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically kept in the gun’s magazine. These magazines usually attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Info
Airsoft weapon mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine gun would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. GBB, HPA, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently house the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
About High-Cap LMG Mags
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Information
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and functional in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are developed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags typically come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Details
Airsoft pistol mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol mags can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
