About Morale Patches
Morale patches allow you to decorate your tactical equipment in the field and are team morale boosters. These patches are styled around things like film quotes, memes, funny phrases, quips, and other off-the-cuff remarks. The patch design style consists of and varies text, images, and graphics.
Morale Patches for Groups
Tactical groups, airsoft teams, and military units normally have a group patch or patch set. If you are a group leader, select a basic group of patches consisting of a few morale patches which represent your squad. You can use these team patches for group recognition, awards, achievements, and rank advances. It is a great method to create camaraderie within your unit. You can also keep a couple of spares on-hand for exchanging patches with patch collectors, friendly units, or allied groups.
Campaign Specific Patches
Most special missions, military campaigns, or airsoft tournaments generally have their own patches. Unit members or players who display these patches have the reputation that originates from completing that mission, task, or tour of duty. Mission patches are an excellent method to highlight who attended when the mission happened.
Patch Attachment
Many morale patches connect to equipment, uniforms, tactical vests, and bags using Velcro or hook and loop attachment backing. The hook side is generally located on the back of the patch with the loop attachment side on the vest, uniform, or bag panel. Other kinds of patches consist of iron-on and sew-on. Iron-on patches use an adhesive glue-like backing which heats up to adhere to the placement area. Sew-on patches need to use sturdy sewing machines and matching thread to attach to a uniform or BDU shirt.
Types of Patch Material
Morale patch material depends upon the producer. The primary front of the patch generally consists of embroidered thread or PVC plastic material. The edges of the patch are stitched and the back is usually a Velcro loop backing area.
About American Sheepdog Morale Patches
Patches like the Space Force Mando Patch made by the American Sheepdog usually hold up quite well. Make sure to cut any loose threads to keep the patch stitching or embroidered patch edges from coming frayed or unraveling. You can attempt to trim or anchor any loose threads to extend the patch’s life expectancy. Anchoring a thread includes taking a needle with the thread through the eye and stitching the thread back into the material numerous times. Sink the loose end of the thread so it cannot keep unraveling.
Morale Patch Care
The majority of morale patches are machine washable. This includes any patches stitched onto uniforms or attached to gear. However, it is a great suggestion to take off Velcro patches before cleaning because the wear and tear of a washing machine can be rough on the patch. To wash detachable PVC patches with Velcro attachments, take off the patch from the equipment. Wash with warm soapy water, rub lightly, and pat the patch dry.
