Info About Airsoft Gun Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically held in the gun’s mag. These mags usually connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Information
Airsoft gun mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would house, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Mag Functionality Details
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are usually pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns work. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
High-Cap LMG Magazine Info
Some airsoft AEG guns and machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines often feature builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol magazines are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Most airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
