Information About Airsoft Weapon Mags
These magazines typically connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Information
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would house, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
About How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring creating tension. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Info
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.
High Capacity LMG Mag Facts
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons use high-cap box or drum magazines. They can carry up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Info
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and usable between various submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines often include builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons store gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Details
Airsoft pistol mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Most airsoft handgun magazines can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
