Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are normally held in the weapon’s magazine. These mags generally connect to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Details
Airsoft gun magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently house the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Details
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
High Capacity LMG Magazine Details
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons like SAWs use high-cap box or drum magazines. They can carry up to thousands of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Details
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and functional between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made style depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns accumulate gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and allow the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
