Airsoft Weapon Magazines Details

Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically held in the weapon’s mag. These magazines normally connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are designed after. The kinds of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.

Airsoft Weapon Mag Types

Airsoft weapon magazines are available in various types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. These types usually relate to AEG magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the total of airsoft BBs a real gun would keep, which is generally around 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, provide airsoft players the greatest storage space with over 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One thing to take note of about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields usually restrain their use due to players using too much ammo to spray and pray during gameplay.

Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details

Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, HPA, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often hold the gas or feed air in through the mag.

Airsoft Rifle Mags

Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are inserted into the gun’s magazine well.

Did You Know?

Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high-cap box magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.

Airsoft SMG Mags

Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and functional in between various submachine guns. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to function so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.

Details About Airsoft Handgun Mags

When compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs, Airsoft pistol mags are often less flexible. Pistols mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) held in the magazine. The magazine is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard firearm design. Handgun mags are often interchangeable in between similar models of the very same airsoft weapon maker, but are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically created for that function. Learning about the various styles of airsoft pistols can give you a better understanding of how their mags work. The majority of airsoft pistol mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
