Airsoft Gun Mags Details
These magazines usually connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Mag Type Details
Airsoft weapon magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. CO2, HPA, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often house the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are relegated to the kind of AEG rifle plus most of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. See how airsoft weapons work. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well. M4 design AEG mags would typically work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch like the guns made by ICS or Tokyo Marui. The same would apply to AK47 AEG magazines with swapability between various AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle mags can keep in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by gun model and functional in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to work in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are swappable between the same weapon series. These SMG magazines also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own customized design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags often include builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Information
Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
