Airsoft Gun Mags Information
These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would store, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
About How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically hold the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam during battlefield engagements.
Information on Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are usually separated by gun model and usable between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are usually built to be compatible. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own customized style depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines frequently include builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and help the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Most airsoft handgun mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
