Info About Airsoft Weapon Mags
These magazines typically attach to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would house, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are normally packed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns work. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use high-cap box magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Info
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and functional in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines typically come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
When compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles, Airsoft handgun magazines are frequently less versatile. Pistols mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the magazine. The magazine is inserted into the handgun’s grip like the standard firearm style. Handgun mags are frequently interchangeable between comparable models of the same airsoft gun producer, but are typically not cross-brand compatible unless they are specifically created for that purpose. Learning about the different styles and types of airsoft handguns gives you more insight to how their pistol mags work. Many airsoft handgun magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
