Airsoft Gun Magazines Details
Airsoft weapons shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically kept in the gun’s magazine. These mags usually connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the real weapons they are modeled after. The kinds of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Information on Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Info
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are typically filled into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
High-Cap LMG Mag Info
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Info
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon model and functional in between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to function so the mags often feature builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Information on Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft handgun magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft handgun mags house around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
