Airsoft Weapon Mags Info
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are normally kept in the weapon’s magazine. These mags generally connect to the airsoft gun very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Details About Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are typically pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. GBB, HPA, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most frequently used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.
High Capacity LMG Magazine Information
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by gun model and usable in between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to work so the magazines frequently come with builtin gas tanks or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB weapons save gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft pistol mags can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
