About Airsoft Gun Mags
These mags generally attach to the airsoft weapon comparable to the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft gun mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Information
Airsoft gun mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the quantity of airsoft BBs a genuine weapon would hold, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Information
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are normally packed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring creating tension. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. GBB, CO2, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Details
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons use high-cap box or drum magazines. They can store up to 1000s of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun model and functional between different submachine guns. These SMG mags usually come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own custom-made style depending on the airsoft weapon brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the mags often come with builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and allow the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Mags
Airsoft handgun mags are frequently less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. A lot of airsoft pistol mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
