Airsoft Gun Mags Information
These mags generally connect to the airsoft weapon similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Type Information
Airsoft gun magazines come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are usually pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns work. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and machine guns use high-cap box magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during engagements.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and usable in between different submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized style depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to work so the mags typically include builtin gas tanks or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns house gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and permit the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft handgun magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
