Info About Airsoft Weapon Magazines
These mags generally connect to the airsoft weapon the same as the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are typically packed into these channels with a spring connected to the very far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will typically save the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some kinds of sniper rifles. The mags are directly related to the kind of AEG rifle plus most of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. See how airsoft guns function. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag insertion area. M4 design AEG magazines would typically work in all M4 style rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by KWA to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24 inch barrel. The same cross-compatibility would relate to AK47 AEG mags with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can store in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Details
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by weapon model and functional between various submachine guns (SMGs). These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom-made design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are connected to the valves and allow the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
When compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs, Airsoft handgun magazines are frequently less flexible. Handguns mags differ by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) stored in the magazine. The mag is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard firearm style. Pistol magazines are frequently interchangeable between comparable models of the same airsoft gun producer, but are frequently not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically created for that purpose. Understanding the different styles of airsoft pistols gives you a better understanding of how their mags function. Many airsoft pistol mags save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
