Airsoft Weapon Magazines Info
These mags usually attach to the airsoft gun the same as the real weapons they are designed after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Information
Airsoft weapon mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, mimic the amount of airsoft BBs a real weapon would house, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are typically packed into these channels with a spring attached to the very far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring creating stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the lock for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, GBB, and CO2 weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will frequently store the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are usually used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. The mags are related to the type of AEG rifle and all of the kinds of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. See how airsoft weapons work. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s magazine well. For instance M4 design AEG mags would generally work in all M4 design rifles from a short CBQ weapon with a 10 inch barrel made by G&G to a designated marksman rifle (DMR) platform with a 24″ made by Lancer Tactical or Elite Force. The same would apply to AK47 AEG mags with swapability in between different AK rifle platforms. AEG rifle magazines can keep in between 60 to 200+ airsoft BBs.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and usable in between different submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft weapon brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags often feature builtin gas storage areas or are pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and enable the pressurized air to flow in through the magazine. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA weapon.
About Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft handgun mags hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
