Airsoft Gun Mags Information
These magazines typically attach to the airsoft weapon quite similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun mags consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Info
Airsoft gun magazines can be found in a handful of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These styles most often apply to AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, simulate the volume of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold in ammunition, which is usually about 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB space with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity magazines, or high-caps, offer airsoft players the greatest storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage capacity. One thing to consider about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields typically regulate their use during games due to players using excessive amounts of ammo to spray and pray throughout gameplay.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically hold the gas or feed air in through the magazine.
Details About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle mags are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs work. The magazines are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
About High Capacity LMG Magazines
Some airsoft AEGs and squad machine guns use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Info
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by weapon design and usable in between different submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (consisting of GBB variations) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) often have their own customized design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These mags use air and gas to operate so the mags frequently come with builtin gas storage or are pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The mags used in GBB guns keep gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped mags use HPA lines which are linked to the valves and let the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Information
Airsoft pistol mags are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. The majority of airsoft handgun mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
