Rifle Scope Product Details

Delta Optical Stryker HD 1-6X24 30mm Tube DSMR Reticle Center Dot Illum. DO-2520
The Delta Optical Stryker HD 1-6×24 riflescope has been designed for AR rifles for both dynamic and recreational shooting competitors. The very large field of view (36m / 100m) with 1x magnification ensures target tracking as easy as with open collimators but is more precise. The field of view puts this model at the forefront. In contrast to collimators, the Delta Optical Stryker HD 1-6×24 riflescope with it’s 6x magnification allows to recognize the target and make a precise shot at much further distances. Low profile closed turrets protect against accidental misalignment of the crosshair settings. Zeroing the turrets does not require additional tools – after setting the reticle properly, just raise the turret knob, set it to ZERO position and click back. The illuminated dot in the center of the reticle ensures quick target tracking at close distances. To facilitate a quick change of magnification, the scope has been equipped with a special adjustment lever. Second plane DSMR reticle does not change with the the zoom change, only the size of the target changes. Thanks to this, the aiming point at the example distance of 300m obscures only 5.28 cm of the target. The riflescope is designed in Poland and manufactured in Japan using aviation grade aluminum alloys.

What You Need to Know About Rifle Glass

Rifle scopes permit you to precisely aim a rifle at various targets by aligning your eye with the target at range. They do this through zoom by employing a series of lenses within the scope. The scope’s positioning can be adjusted for the consideration of varied natural aspects like wind and elevation decreases to make up for bullet drop.

The scope’s purpose is to help shooters understand precisely where the bullet will land based on the sight picture you are seeing through the scope as you align the scope’s crosshair or reticle with the intended point of impact. Most modern rifle optics have about eleven parts which are found within and outside of the scope body. These optic pieces include the rifle scope’s body, lenses, windage turrets or dials, objective focus rings, and other elements. Learn about the eleven parts of rifle optics.

About Glass Varieties

Rifle scopes can be either “first focal plane” or “second focal plane” type of scopes. Choosing the perfect type of rifle glass is based around what type of shooting you plan to do.

First Focal Plane Scope Details

Focal plane scopes (FFP) feature the reticle in front of the magnifying lens. This induces the reticle to increase in size based on the level of zoom being used. The outcome is that the reticle measurements are the same at the magnified range as they are at the non amplified range. One tick on a mil-dot reticle at one hundred yards without “zoom” is still the very same tick at one hundred yards with 5x “zoom”. These types of scopes are valuable for:

  • Quick acquisition, long distance types of shooting
  • Shooting circumstances where computations are minimal
  • Experienced shooters who have an idea for their aim point “hold over” as well as “lead” relationships for their long gun
  • Shooters who do not mind the reticle is enlarged and requires more visual eyesight room than a SFP reticle

Info on Second Focal Plane Scopes

Second focal plane scopes (SFP) come with the reticle behind the zoom lens. In the FFP example with the SFP scope, the 5x “zoom” one hundred yard tick measurement would be 1/5th of the non “zoom” tick measurement.

  • Long distance forms of shooting where shooters have extra time to make ballistic calculations
  • Shooting where most of the shots occur within much shorter ranges and distances
  • Shooters who want a clearer optic sight picture with less area taken up by the larger sized FFP reticle

Ins and Outs of Rifle Glass Zoom

The extent of scope magnification you need on your glass depends on the style of shooting you want to do. Just about every style of rifle glass supplies some level of zoom. The quantity of zoom a scope provides is determined by the diameter, thickness, and curves of the lens glass within the rifle scope. The magnification of the scope is the “power” of the glass. This implies what the shooter is looking at through the scope is magnified times the power factor of what can generally be seen by human eyes.

Single Power Lens Optics

A single power rifle optic comes with a magnification number designator like 4×32. This implies the zoom power of the scope is 4x power and the objective lens is 32mm. The magnification of this type of scope can not fluctuate since it is a fixed power scope.

Info About Adjustable Power Lens Glass

Variable power rifle scopes can be changed between magnification levels. These types of scopes will note the magnification amount in a format such as 2-10×32. These numbers mean the zoom of the scope can be set between 2x and 10x power. This additionally utilizes the power levels in-between 2 and 10. The power adaptation is achieved by applying the power ring component of the scope near the rear of the scope by the eye bell.

Power Levels and Range

Here are some suggested scope power levels and the distances where they may be successfully used. Always remember that higher magnification scopes and optics will not be as efficient as lower magnification level scopes since excessive zoom can be a bad thing. The very same idea goes for extended ranges where the shooter needs sufficient power to see where to properly aim the rifle at the target.

About Scope Lens Coatings

All contemporary rifle scope lenses are layered. There are different types and qualities of finishings. Lens covering can be an essential element of a rifle when thinking about high end rifle optics and scope equipment. The lenses are one of the most crucial parts of the scope given that they are what your eye sees through while sighting a rifle in on the target. The finish on the lenses shields the lens surface and assists with anti glare capabilities from refracted sunlight and color exposure.

HD Versus ED Lens Coatings

Some scope brands likewise use “HD” or high-definition lens finishings which use different techniques, chemicals, polarizations, and elements to draw out separate colors and viewable definition through the lens. Some scope manufacturers use “HD” to refer to “ED” indicating extra-low dispersion glass.

Single Finish Versus Multi-Coating

Different scope lenses can also have various finishings applied to them. All lenses normally have at least some kind of treatment or finish applied to them prior to being used in a rifle scope or optic assembly. Due to the fact that the lens isn’t simply a raw piece of glass, they require performance enhancing coatings. It becomes part of the carefully tuned optic. It needs to have a finish placed on it so that it will be optimally functional in numerous kinds of environments, degrees of sunlight (full light VS shaded), and other shooting conditions.

Single covered lenses have a treatment applied to them which is usually a protective and improving multi-purpose treatment. This lens treatment can preserve the lens from scratches while lowering glare and other less helpful things experienced in the shooting environment while sighting in with the optic. The quality of a single covered lens depends on the scope designer and how much money you spent paying for it. Both the make and cost are indicators of the lens quality.

Some scope makers also make it a point to define if their optic lenses are covered or “multi” covered. Being “much better” depends on the maker’s lens treatment technology and the quality of products used in building the rifle scope.

Hydrophobic Coating for Rifle Glass

Water on a scope lens doesn’t assist with retaining a clear sight picture through a scope at all. Lots of top of the line or premium scope makers will coat their lenses with a hydrophobic or hydrophilic finishing. The Steiner Optics Nano-Protection is a fine example of this kind of treatment. It treats the surface of the Steiner optic lens so the water particles can not bind to it or create surface tension. The outcome is that the water beads sheet off of the scope to keep a clear, water free sight picture.

Rifle Scope Mounting Options

Installing solutions for scopes come in a couple of choices. There are the basic scope rings which are separately mounted to the optic and one-piece scope mounts which cradle the scope. These different types of mounts also usually can be found in quick release versions which use manual levers which enable rifle operators to quickly mount and remove the scope.

Glass Mounting Solutions with Hex Key Rings

Standard, clamp-on design mounting scope rings use hex head screws to mount to the flattop style Picatinny scope mount rails on the tops of rifles. These forms of scope mounts use a pair of detached rings to support the optic, and are made from 7075 T6 billet aluminum or similar materials which are designed for far away accuracy shooting. This type of scope mount is exceptional for rifle systems which are in need of a long lasting, unfailing mount which will not move regardless of just how much the scope is moved or abuse the rifle takes. These are the design of mounts you should get for a dedicated scope system on a long distance scouting or interdiction firearm that will almost never need to be changed or adjusted. Blue 242 Loctite threadlocker can also be used on screws to prevent the hex screws from backing out after they are installed firmly in place. An example of these rings are the 30mm type from the Vortex Optics company. The set typically costs around $200 USD

Rifle Glass Mounting Solutions with Quick-Release Cantilever Rings

These types of quick-release rifle scope mounts can be used to quickly connect and detach a scope from a rifle before reattaching it to a different rifle. Several scopes can also be swapped out if they all use a similar design mount. These types of mounts are handy for rifles which are transferred a lot, to swap out the optic from the rifle for protecting the scope, or for optics which are used between multiple rifles.

Sealing and Gas Purging for Scope Tubes

Moisture inside your rifle glass can mess up a day of shooting and your costly optic by triggering fogging and creating residue inside of the scope tube. A lot of scopes prevent humidity from getting in the optical tube with a system of sealing O-rings which are waterproof. Normally, these water-resistant optics can be submerged under 20 or 30 feet of water before the water pressure can push moisture past the O-rings. This should be sufficient moisture avoidance for conventional use rifles for hunting and sporting purposes, unless you anticipate taking your rifle on a boat and are worried about the optic still working if it is submerged in water and you can still retrieve the rifle.

Info on Rifle Glass Tube Gas Purging

Another component of preventing the accumulation of moisture inside of the rifle scope’s tube is filling the tube with a gas like nitrogen. Because this area is already occupied by the gas, the scope is less influenced by temp alterations and pressure distinctions from the external environment which could possibly allow water vapor to leak in around the seals to fill the void which would otherwise be there. These are good qualities of a good rifle scope to look for.
