Information About Airsoft Weapon Mags
These mags usually attach to the airsoft weapon comparable to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags are manufactured in a handful of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. These types most often involve AEG mags for automatic electric guns. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the supply of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold in ammunition, which is typically around 24 to 30 airsoft BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs. High capacity mags, or high-caps, give airsoft players the greatest storage with around 200 rounds of BB storage volume. One thing to consider about high-cap mags is that airsoft fields typically prohibit their use due to players firing an excessive amount of ammunition to spray and pray during gameplay.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring producing stress. On the load end, a small lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the lock for a split second and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. CO2, GBB, and HPA weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
About Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are inserted into the gun’s mag well.
High Capacity LMG Mag Facts
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high capacity box magazines. They can hold up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
About Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and usable between different submachine guns. These SMG magazines also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB weapons keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less flexible when compared to the AEG magazines used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol magazines store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
