Airsoft Gun Magazines
These magazines normally attach to the airsoft gun the same as the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon mags include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Airsoft Gun Magazine Types
Airsoft weapon mags come in a few types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real weapon would hold, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, permit for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities around 120 to 160 BBs.
Info on How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage zones. The BBs are generally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the really far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use compressed air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle mags are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. See how airsoft guns like spring, AEG, and green gas rifles shoot BBs. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s mag well.
High-Cap LMG Magazine Facts
Some airsoft AEGs and squad machine guns use high-cap drum magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Magazines
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun design and functional in between different submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG mags are made to operate in different MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG magazines are usually built to be compatible. These SMG magazines also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to work so the mags frequently come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB weapons save gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Handgun Mags
Airsoft pistol mags are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. The majority of airsoft pistol mags can hold around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
