Airsoft Gun Mags Details
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are usually stored in the gun’s magazine. These mags usually connect to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are created after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Mag Type Details
Airsoft gun mags come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, imitate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would store, which is generally about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are generally pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the extremely far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon releases the latch for a split second and loads another BB into the weapon out of the mag. GBB, CO2, and HPA guns, which use compressed air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the magazine. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Mags Details
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft guns work. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are inserted into the weapon’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and squad automatic weapons use very large capacity magazines. They can carry up to 1000s of BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags Info
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are also separated by gun model and usable in between various submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity versions with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Mags for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB variations) and guns powered by high pressure air (HPA) frequently have their own custom design depending upon the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to operate so the magazines typically come with builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB weapons accumulate gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are attached to the valves and allow the pressurized air to flow in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Airsoft Handgun Magazines Info
When compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs, Airsoft pistol magazines are typically less flexible. Pistols mags vary by type and typically use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the magazine. The magazine is inserted into the pistol’s grip like the basic firearm style. Handgun magazines are frequently interchangeable between similar models of the same airsoft gun maker, but are frequently not cross-brand suitable unless they are particularly developed for that purpose. Learning about the various styles of airsoft sidearms gives you a better understanding of how their mags function. Many airsoft handgun magazines keep around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
