Airsoft Gun Mags
These mags usually attach to the airsoft gun similar to the real weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft gun magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Gun Mag Types
Airsoft gun mags come in several types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity mags, or real-caps, replicate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real weapon would store, which is usually about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Details About How Airsoft Mags Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage areas. The BBs are normally pushed into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are packed, they compress the spring developing tension. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun releases the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the weapon out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will often keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Airsoft Rifle Magazines Details
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the mags. The AEG mags are placed into the gun’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEGs and light machine guns, or LMGs, use very large capacity magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a unit or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG magazines AEG are similarly separated by gun design and usable in between various submachine guns. These SMG mags also come in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities varying from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems Green gas rifles (including GBB versions) and weapons powered by high pressure air (HPA) typically have their own custom-made design depending on the airsoft gun brand. These magazines use air and gas to work so the magazines often feature builtin gas storage or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The mags used in GBB guns house gas in the mag so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB. HPA pre-tapped magazines use HPA lines which are hooked up to the valves and let the pressurized air to stream in through the mag. This setup feeds the airsoft BBs into the HPA gun.
Information on Airsoft Handgun Magazines
Airsoft handgun magazines are typically less versatile when compared to the AEG mags used in rifles and SMGs. Many airsoft handgun mags store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
