Airsoft Weapon Magazines
Airsoft guns shoot airsoft BBs. These BBs are typically held in the weapon’s mag. These magazines typically attach to the airsoft weapon very similarly to the genuine weapons they are imitated. The types of airsoft weapon magazines include real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags.
Info on Airsoft Weapon Mag Types
Airsoft gun magazines come in a number of types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity mags. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, simulate the amount of airsoft BBs a real gun would house, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability mags, or mid-caps, allow for more airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
Airsoft Magazine Functionality Details
Airsoft mags have a series of internal channels and BB storage locations. The BBs are typically filled into these channels with a spring attached to the really far end. When the BBs are filled, they compress the spring developing stress. On the load end, a little lock holds the BBs in the mag. When a BB is fired, the airsoft weapon launches the lock for a fraction of a second and loads another BB into the gun out of the mag. HPA, GBB, and CO2 guns, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these kinds of systems.
Info Airsoft Rifle Magazines
Airsoft rifle magazines are most often used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Learn about how airsoft AEGs shoot BBs. The magazines are particular to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the gun’s mag well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and machine guns use high-cap drum magazines. They can store up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide massive amounts of suppressive fire for a squad or fireteam during fights.
Airsoft SMG Magazines Info
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are similarly separated by weapon design and functional in between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also are available in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity magazines. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These magazines use air and gas to function so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank hookups. The magazines used in GBB guns store gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Information on Airsoft Pistol Magazines
Airsoft handgun mags are typically less flexible when compared to the AEG mags used in smgs and rifles. Many airsoft pistol mags can store around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
