Airsoft Weapon Mags Information
These magazines generally attach to the airsoft weapon similar to the genuine weapons they are modeled after. The types of airsoft weapon magazines consist of real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines.
Airsoft Weapon Magazine Type Details
Airsoft gun magazines come in multiple types like real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity magazines. Real capacity magazines, or real-caps, replicate the quantity of airsoft BBs a real gun would hold, which is typically about 24 to 30 BBs. Mid capability magazines, or mid-caps, enable for additional airsoft BB storage with capacities about 120 to 160 BBs.
How Airsoft Magazines Work
Airsoft magazines have a series of internal channels and BB storage spots. The BBs are normally filled into these channels with a spring connected to the extremely far end. When the BBs are loaded, they compress the spring producing tension. On the load end, a little latch holds the BBs in the magazine. When a BB is fired, the airsoft gun launches the latch for an instant and loads another BB into the gun out of the magazine. HPA, CO2, and GBB weapons, which use high pressure air or green gas, will typically keep the gas or feed air in through the mag. This feeds BBs into the guns for these types of systems.
Information Airsoft Rifle Mags
Airsoft rifle magazines are most typically used in automatic electric guns (AEGs) and some types of sniper rifles. Find out how airsoft AEGs work. The mags are specific to the type of AEG rifle and all of the types of that rifle are cross-compatible with the magazines. The AEG magazines are placed into the weapon’s magazine well.
Did You Know?
Some airsoft AEG guns and squad automatic weapons like M249 Bravo SAWs and M60s use high-cap drum magazines. They can hold up to thousands of airsoft BBs and provide fire support for a squad or fireteam.
Airsoft SMG Mags
Airsoft SMG mags AEG are also separated by weapon design and functional between various submachine guns. Hecker and Koch H&K MP5 AEG magazines are made to operate in various MP5s like the MP5K or MP5SD. P90, KRISS Vector, and TMP AEG mags are constructed to be cross-compatible. These SMG mags also can be found in real capacity, mid capacity, and high capacity variations with BB storage capacities ranging from around 24 airsoft BBs with real capacity mags to over 200 BBs with high capacity mags. Rifle Magazines for Green Gas and HPA Systems These mags use air and gas to operate so the mags typically come with builtin gas reservoirs or pre-tapped for HPA tank connections. The magazines used in GBB guns keep gas in the magazine so the rifle cycles every shot and feeds in the next BB.
Airsoft Pistol Mags Info
Airsoft pistol magazines are often less versatile when compared to the AEG magazines used in rifles and SMGs. Pistols mags vary by type and frequently use CO2 or green gas (propane) kept in the mag. The magazine is placed into the pistol’s grip like the standard gun style. Handgun magazines are typically interchangeable between similar models of the very same airsoft weapon maker, but are often not cross-brand suitable unless they are specifically created for that purpose. Learning about the specific styles and types of airsoft handguns gives you more insight to how their pistol mags differ. Many airsoft handgun magazines save around 20 to 30 airsoft BBs.
